History: It dates from the 1960s, and is one of a series of rare collectable plates featuring different towns and villages in the Netherlands. This beautiful Royal Sphinx Maastricht blue and white plate shows the children of the Dutch village of Volendam playing in their regional costumes. The plate has a strong folkloric theme, very similar to many Scandinavian ceramics.
